My job involves – To check technical, keeping my mouth shut when I visit the team (haha) I actually love connecting with people. These days I spend a lot of my time supporting the family when the directors are busy. This usually looks like grandparent duties unless I’m out of the country traveling.

Best thing about working at ASTSS – Everything’s good. The people are great, it’s challenging, seeing the business and team grow.

Where you’ll find me on weekends – Down the beach having coffee, watching motor racing, football, washing my car and riding my vesper.   

If I was a trailer/trailer part, I’d be a – Chassis. Because it the foundation and keeps everything together.

Something funny or special that only happens at ASTSS – One day one of the team (let’s call him Ben Dancaster) taped my keys under the desk. I had to leave however the office team wouldn’t tell me where they were. The find my keys app said they were on the desk, but I couldn’t see them.

My best piece of advice for trailer owners would be – Check your bearings constantly, if you don’t you might find yourself on the side of the highway and have to leave your family there while you get it fixed. Make sure the trailer is in good running order.

Where did you get your experience from – On the job training. I completed a wood machinist apprenticeship in Toowoomba at the age of 18. Then I got married and went to Mackay cutting cane. Then I was a door-to-door salesman selling books. That’s where I learnt how to sell. I bounced around a bit and took on a job as the assistant director of publishing in Brisbane looking after the QLD team. This is where I learnt how to run a team of people and develop my people skills. Believe it or not I became a minister of religion from 1983-1993 moving on to start Tow Me Hire Trailers. I started a trailer parts business because I believed it was better to get $1 out of 100,000 people than $100,000 out of 1 person, my motivation was to provide for my family, I just love working and people. This began a pathway that grew into All States Trailer Spares today. I always said, “it was more ass than class” that it worked however I loved every minute of what I did, I still love coming to work and believe that anyone can be anything they want as long as they apply themselves.
